In the cadastral area of the village of Ohrady, in the Dunajská Streda District, amidst the beautiful scenery of the Klatovské Rameno of the Little Danube,
lies the domestic farm of Szigeti Tanya, owned by the Makki family. They live here with their four children, leading a typical rural life.
On this Ohrady Island, the owners have fulfilled their dream of living and being self-sufficient. They raise domestic animals, which serve them in many ways. From eggs to milk, cheese, and meat, their farm provides them with all these products. They also have fruits and vegetables cultivated in their permaculture garden.
During our visit, the hosts will introduce us to their daily joys and concerns, giving us a glimpse of farm life as our ancestors lived it. We’ll get to meet their animal companions and learn interesting facts about making homemade cheese and baking bread in a handmade oven. We won’t miss out on the preparation of homemade honey and syrups made from the bounties of Mother Nature.
Szigeti Tanya will be a pleasant stop on our journey through the beauties of the Rye Island.
